Park of Military History in Pivka
The largest museum complex in Slovenia takes you into the whirlwind of recent history with its rich collection of tanks, artillery, armoured vehicles and aircraft. The exhibits testify to the period of World War II, the Cold War and the Slovenian War of Independence in 1991.
The Park's most recognisable exhibit is the former Yugoslav commando-type submarine P-913 Zeta whose interior can also be explored with a guide. Entering the mysterious world of submariners is an experience you won't forget!
A guided visit inside a P-111 police boat is also a special treat. The German locomotive from World War II, the Mil Mi-8 helicopter and other XXL exhibits also impress with their dimensions and context.
As a modern museum centre, the Park of Military History offers much more – the Kantina Pivka Museum restaurant, the well-stocked Magazin museum shop, a rest area for motorhomes, as well as several pleasant walking and hiking trails – a real experience for individual visitors and families as well as for excursion groups!
