Cerknica Lake Visitors Centre Hear the stories of a very special lake

The story of Lake Cerknica is the story of life between too much and too little water. Listen to the stories of the locals, see the hologram, hear the birds singing, smell the lake herbs and touch the otter's fur.

The experience is ideal for families, offering interactive games, a family ticket and the opportunity for each visitor to create their own experience.

Explore Lake Cerknica with an experienced local guide. Every season reveals a different face of Europe's largest intermittent lake, from vast water surfaces to flowering meadows and diverse wildlife.

During the guided experience, you will learn how the lake appears and disappears, observe birds and other wildlife, and discover fascinating local stories about this remarkable Karst landscape. No two visits are ever the same, as the lake is constantly changing.

Guided tours in English are available every Tuesday to Friday at 10:00 a.m. Please arrive at the meeting point in front of the Lake Cerknica Visitor Centre at least 10 minutes before the tour begins.
