A walk with Countess Greta
Let Countess Greta take you back to the time when Snežnik Castle was at its heyday. With her, a stroll around the castle grounds becomes a journey into the past – among the memories, stories and everyday life at the manor.
Greta, whose real name was Margareta Schollmayer, was the daughter of the castle governor Henry Schollmayer, a chronicler and historian. She was a sophisticated lady, who at the beginning of the 20th century ran a girls' school at the neighbouring castle in Koča vas, edited her father's notes and socialised with the poet Oton Župančič.
In her characteristic costume of the time, she brings you closer to a period of refined ladies and gentlemen, when the forests of Snežnik were the scene of hunting adventures and the gardens were fragrant with roses and lime blossoms.
